And if anyone else is coming, there is the group chat. 40 messages deep, everybody with an opinion, nobody making a decision, and you quietly working out how to say no to somebody's villa without it becoming a thing.
The part you cannot Google
Between January and August this year I booked 342 trips. Not all of them to places I have been, because nobody has been everywhere, and an advisor who only sells what they have personally seen is a small advisor.
What I have is 20 years of doing this, a network of people on the ground who tell me the truth about a property, and the habit of asking the questions you would not think to ask until you were already standing in the wrong hotel.
I travel with my own 2 children, so the family logistics are not theoretical. I am a Cunard Diamond member. And I work independently within the Avoya Travel Network, so nobody is paying me to point you anywhere.

Flights, hotels, activities, and the small requests you would not have thought to ask for. It all lands in one app on your phone, so you are not searching your inbox at the gate. Then if a flight cancels or a hotel mixes up your room while you are away, you send one message and it is handled.

When I book your hotel or cruise, they pay me a commission. That is how the industry has always worked and you deserve to know it. It does not make the advice worth less, because I am paid the same whichever property you pick.

What happens if it stays on the list
It stays there another year, most likely. The birthday, the anniversary, the last summer before one of them is old enough to want to go somewhere else, all get marked some smaller way instead.
Nothing goes wrong, exactly. That particular window just closes.
Planning a trip, asked often
Why use a travel agent if I already know where I want to go?
Knowing the destination is the easy part. The work is everything after it. Which hotel, which room in that hotel, which flight actually connects, and who fixes it at 11pm when it doesn't. That's the part I do. For personal travel it costs you nothing.
What does it cost to work with you?
Personal travel costs nothing, including flights booked on their own. Corporate travel costs nothing when a hotel is in the booking. Corporate flights on their own are $25 per ticket. Group programs and retreats are quoted individually, based on size and how much you want handled.
If it's free, how do you actually get paid?
The hotel, resort or cruise line pays me a commission when you book. That's how this industry has always worked, and I'd rather you knew it than wondered. I'm paid the same whichever property you choose, so nothing is pulling my recommendation in one direction.
How do you choose hotels and cruises?
On what fits you, not on what pays best. I'm not anybody's top seller and I hold no preferred supplier deals, so I have no quota to fill with one brand. I look at location against your actual plans, what the room is really like, and whether the property delivers what it advertises.
What happens after I get in touch?
We talk, by call or email, about how you travel and what you want from this trip. You get 2 or 3 options that genuinely fit, with real costs. Once you choose, I book everything and handle the requests you'd never think to make. Then I'm on call while you're away.
Do you only book the Caribbean?
No. I live in Grenada, so my Caribbean recommendations come from being here rather than from a brochure. But I book Europe, the Americas, cruises worldwide and everywhere else my clients want to go. Living in one region doesn't limit where I plan.
What happens if something goes wrong while I'm traveling?
You message me and I sort it. Canceled flight, hotel mix-up, a connection that isn't going to work. I'd usually rather find out from my own alerts before you do, which is often what happens. You don't sit on hold with an airline. That's my job.
Can you handle dietary needs, accessibility or special requests?
Yes, and they get confirmed before you arrive rather than mentioned at check in. Dietary requirements, accessibility needs, room preferences, connecting rooms, a cot, a quiet floor. Tell me at the start and I'll make sure the property has it in writing.
Can you help with visas, entry rules and vaccinations?
I'll flag what applies to your trip and point you to the official government sources for your nationality. What I won't do is tell you you're fine when the rules change weekly. The final check is always yours, but you won't be doing it without knowing what to look for.
